Farewell-to-Spring (Clarkia amoena) is an annual wildflower native to western North America, primarily found in meadows and open woodland edges along the Pacific Coast from British Columbia down through California. This cup-shaped, pink to lavender with darker pink or reddish centers are known for their satiny petals that are slightly ruffled; attracting bees and butterflies. Growing to approximately 12 to 36 inches tall, this wildflower is best sowed in early spring and can take 6 to 10 weeks to bloom. The name “Farewell-to-Spring” comes from its timing: it’s one of the last wildflowers to bloom in spring, signaling summer’s arrival.
